Coming Soon!
Valatrax Internet Broadcasting/Publications is excited to announce the 2008 Data Retention Pledge and the Data Breach Promise is almost ready to be rolled out…if we can just shuffle aside a few more rocks and stuff at the tail end of this 2007! ;>)
The general gist of this particular storyline can actually be summarized in 10 words or less*:
“Wave, then handshake. Not handshake, then wave.”
In order for one piece of technology to invade another piece of technology, there needs to be a moment in which a “handshake” occurs. This handshake is when the receiver technology decides the visiting technology is permitted to enter. Right now, it is too easy for mass waves of collective handshaking to occur and then the coordinator waving to us as they walk undetected out the door.
Botnets are but one storyline structure that demonstrates the power of coordinated efforts to bring technology over to their side, sort of like a game of Red Rover, Red Rover, but in this particular game, our security systems tend to be rolled over by the various herders out there, past, present and even future with duping methods such as deceitful subject headers designed to lead even the most Internet savvy to step into a situation in which the end-user incidentally allows for the handshake to occur.
Pay Per Click Fraud is yet another script used to intentionally circumvent security systems through the non-stop avalanche of junk sites (especially the Link Farms and Clutter Farms). Incidentally, anyone who manages a site that does not have secure forms built into their sites…? Easy target for hackers.
Even the current Opt-Out mentality of the men and women wearing the Cloak of Economics creates dark clouds over the need to build in more mandates for an Opt-In profit position by those same people. Identity theft continues to run rampant because there’s been so many secondary data markets generated by the demands of economic models stating that the purchase of a mailing list might bring in a 1-3% return…but does that purchaser have a Data Retention Pledge in place? What is their Data Breach Promise?
We should all be asking each other if we take care of the data entrusted to each of us. Lost palm pilots can wreck havoc on perhaps a significant-sized circle of individuals. We should have an idea of what we would do if this happened to us. Who do you call? Do you somehow back-up the information? What if it was stolen?
This blog is going to stroll around the issues surrounding the idea that through creating and maintaining both Data Retention Pledges and Data Breach Promises for one and all, we can continue identifying these types of defining moments and perhaps mitigating the damages more effectively than we are currently pulling off.
So happy holiday’s to one and all and see you in 2008!
